City Issues Notice of Funding Availability for Community Land Trusts – Single Family Homeownership Projects

Community Benefits TIF Advances for Perkins Somerset Oldtown Transformation Plan

Today, the Baltimore City Planning Commission unanimously approved the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) legislation for the Perkins Somerset Oldtown (PSO) Transformation area. The PSO Transformation area is a 244-acre site that includes Perkins Homes, the former Somerset Homes site, and the Oldtown Mall.

Application Deadline Extended to July 19 for Temporary Rent Support Program

The Baltimore City Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) has extended the application deadline for the City’s Temporary Rent Support program to Sunday, July 19, at 7 p.m. The program supports eligible renters by making rent payments to landlords on behalf of tenants.

Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) Issued To Support Production of Affordable Rental Housing

DHCD is making up to $2 million available from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund to support new construction of affordable rental housing and/or rehabilitation of existing rental projects for affordable housing. Eligible applicants for this NOFA can request a maximum of $750,000 per project.

Today, The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) and The Baltimore City Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) announced that the City of Baltimore has launched two types of permit programs which allow restaurants to request permission to provide outdoor dining accommodations in the City's public right-of-way.

Historic Upton Mansion to Serve as New Home of The AFRO American Newspaper

Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young recently revealed that DHCD selected The Afro Charities, Inc. development team to revive the city-owned property. The project team ― comprised of Afro American Newspapers, Inc., The Afro Charities, Inc., Hodges Development LLC, Sulton Campbell, Britt and Associates, and Commercial Construction ― is investing an estimated $7 million to revitalize the property.
